So you’ve got a great idea for your business. It could be pretty run of the mill or something really outside the square, and you store it away in your head because you don’t have time to deal with it.
Not acting on your ideas is a lost opportunity to grow your business! Some of the best business ideas have been bold, eccentric or totally left of centre. You shouldn’t be afraid to take this plunge too!
This doesn’t mean you should act on every idea you come up with, float your ideas with your friends, family and colleagues. Trusted sources of advice only!
Don’t Be Afraid Of Failure
Failure can be good for business, not your actual business of course, but if you’ve got an idea you think might work, run it past someone whose opinion you value, search the internet, find out if your idea has been adopted before by similar businesses. If it has been adopted, find out what worked and what didn’t work and then make your idea better by solving the things that didn’t work.
If your idea hasn’t been tested before, the worst that can happen is your idea doesn’t work out and your trial will fail. While never pleasant, it’s a good lesson to go through and this failure in a way makes your business stronger.
Look For Problems And Inefficient Processes
If you’ve always thought that how you are running your business isn’t working out and is causing problems for you and your clients, you shouldn’t be afraid to change things up.
Even if what you are doing is considered to be the industry standard, there’s plenty of things your business could be doing to up the anti and alleviate any problem areas.
There’s nothing wrong with being the one who revolutionised the way your industry does something because it works better and has better outcomes for you and your clients. As I always say, “You don’t need to reinvent the wheel, just roll it in a different direction.”
Ask Your Client
Feedback is a normal part of business, and shouldn’t be looked at simply as a seeking a recommendation or testimonial. Float your ideas past relevant clients, whose opinion you value.
After all, you want to change up your business to get more clients and benefit the clients you already have. I can’t think of anyone better qualified to give feedback on what works for them about your business and what doesn’t.
