Are you stuck in a rut with your virtual assistant business? Do you feel like it’s a drag getting up every day and going to your office, where ever that may be, the spare room or the kitchen table? If you are, then you need to keep reading this post.  I’m going to share with you what it is you need to do, to work out what it is you’re good at.

Skills

You wouldn’t have begun your VA business without any skills. That would be just plain silly; agree? Funnily enough, a lot of people do. And, they start up for all the wrong reasons. Some people simply have an idea, a thought that they can start a business. But what they don’t do is, they don’t think about it, they don’t do their homework nor do they speak to anyone about it first.

If this is you, if you are feeling that your virtual assistant business has a problem then sit down and write out all the things your good at. Simple right? At this point it doesn’t matter if you don’t love doing them, it matters that you’re “good at them”. Note the emphasis on “good at“. Keep that list handy because it will help you work through the following points.

Passion

Now with your list in front of you of all the things you’re good at, check off the things that you LOVE to do, the things that make you happy, smile and drive you to be better than who you currently are. It’s not about eating your favourite foods, or watching your favourite movies; it’s about what you love to do for your clients. What projects / tasks / roles see you excel at, what makes you get out of your PJ’s to walk across the hallway wearing shoes not slippers?

Now take a bright highlighter and highlight the things that give you passion, that motivate you to be a virtual assistant.

Confidence

When you get into your office, and you look at the pile of work you have to do, and it doesn’t interest you one bit. You’re sabotaging not only yourself but your business. It’s just like when you were employed at that job you didn’t like going to, the one where you felt undervalued and insignificant. Get the picture?

When you know your skills, and you love doing what you do, your confidence goes through the roof. You focus on yourself, your business, and it’s amazing how clients seem just to appear from nowhere and the clincher, you charge what you are worth and your clients pay it.

Core Strength

Then here’s the clincher, this is the glue that holds it all together.  Who are you? Do you know what your core strengths are, what drives the passion that you have about certain tasks?

Sometimes, it is as simple as being reminded of these four points. We all know about them, we all know how to utilise them, but sometimes, in the chase for the dollar, we sell off our happiness to the ‘not so highest bidder’. When we stop doing that, our light shines.
